About Us

Welcome to Nervy Mutt, where we specialise in unisex hi-vis apparel designed to communicate the needs of your dog, and you, without having to utter a single word.

Nervy Mutt was co-founded by Kimberley and Sabeena, passionate dog lovers and proud owners of a reactive rescue street dog called Newt. Struggling to find practical products with clear messaging, we created our own, say hello to Nervy Mutt!

Sabeena grew up in Mauritius and Reunion Island where she developed a love for dogs early on becoming familiar with street dogs and working dogs on her family’s farm. Sabeena started her first job at a kennel and later became part of the team at Dartmoor Zoo, where she met Kimberley. Kimberley grew up surrounded by various animals, including Suki, the collie cross from Battersea Dogs Home and Mollie the reactive Great Dane. From cats and ferrets to horses and dogs, Kimberley has cared for most domestic mammals!

Our journey with reactivity began in May 2021, shortly after Newt arrived from Bulgaria. Despite our training efforts, his reactivity increased due to negative experiences with off-lead dogs. We became stronger advocates for him, adjusted our methods, and connected with like-minded dog owners.

But repeatedly asking dog owners to recall their "friendly" dogs became tiresome, repetitive, and increasingly stressful. Leash covers and collars weren’t visible enough alone, especially from a distance, to capture other owners’ attention (while you’d hope they recall seeing another dog on leash, we all know that doesn’t always happen!) so we started sketching up some designs, and here we are…
